How this calculator works

1

Enter wall length and height in meters.

2

Select single leaf (4.5 inch half-brick wall) or double leaf (9 inch full wall).

3

View exact brick count, bricks with waste, and mortar volume.

Formula & Mathematics

Brick Count Formula
Bricks = [Wall Area / (Brick L + Joint) × (Brick H + Joint)] × (1 + Wastage%)

Includes 10mm standard mortar joint spacing and 5% broken brick wastage.

Worked Example

5m long × 3m high wall (single leaf)

Wall area = 15 m², standard modular brick (190×90 mm with 10mm joint).

Effective brick face = 0.20m × 0.10m = 0.02 m²
Bricks count = 15 / 0.02 = 750 bricks
With 5% waste = 788 bricks
Order 788 bricks and ~0.43 m³ of mortar.

Frequently Asked Questions

A single leaf wall is half-brick thick (internal partition), while a double leaf wall is full brick thick (external structural load-bearing).
