Formula & Mathematics

Tile Requirement Formula
Total Tiles = [Room Area / Tile Area] × (1 + Wastage%)

Adds 10% to 15% wastage for cuts, corner fittings, and pattern breaks.

Worked Example

4m × 3m room with 60cm × 60cm tiles

Room Area = 12 m², Tile Area = 0.36 m², 10% waste.

Exact tiles = 12 / 0.36 = 33.3 tiles
With 10% waste = 37 tiles
At 4 tiles/box = 10 boxes needed
Purchase 10 boxes (37 total tiles).
