Electrical Energy Consumption Formula
kWh = (Watts × Hours Used × Count) / 1000; Cost = kWh × Rate per kWh
Calculates power draw in kilowatt-hours and multiplies by your utility tariff.
Worked Example
1500 Watt Air Conditioner running 8 hours/day at ₹8 per kWh
Watts = 1500, Hours = 8, Rate = ₹8/kWh.
• Daily energy = (1500 × 8) / 1000 = 12 kWh
• Daily cost = 12 × ₹8 = ₹96
• Monthly cost (30 days) = ₹96 × 30 = ₹2,880
Running the AC costs approximately ₹2,880 per month.
